Swat is a green, river-fed valley of orchards, waterfalls and meadows, long nicknamed the 'Switzerland of the East'. Mingora is the hub; the road north climbs through Madyan and Bahrain to Kalam.
Beyond Kalam lie forests and alpine lakes such as Mahodand, reached by jeep.
