Skardu sits at the confluence of the Indus and Shigar rivers at an average elevation of nearly 2,500 m. It is the launchpad for K2 and the Baltoro, and a destination in its own right.
Spend days among the emerald water of the Kachura lakes, the dunes of the cold desert beneath snow peaks, and the old Kharpocho Fort above town — then use Skardu as the base for Deosai and the great treks.
